Hello. My name is Helen and this blog is intended as a space to share essays, reviews, short stories and poetry. I am interested in exploring what connects us and what keeps us apart, examining these themes in the arts, society and culture.
I hold a degree in English Literature and Philosophy and an MA in American Literature and Culture from the University of Leeds. My dissertation explored the boundaries of what poetry is and can communicate, through the work of David Antin and Mark Doty. During my MA I was Editorial Assistant for Stand Magazine.
My professional experience in the fields of mental health and bereavement informs my writing, as does my passion for poetry, language and the natural world. I am currently working on a non-fiction piece about death and psychedelics.
